This instrument has a flat, straight pedal board (30 notes) which is offset to one side by one note.  Unfortunately, I ran into this difficulty while playing the Fantasia in Eb Major by Camille Saint-Saëns for an AGO Hymn Festival several years ago.[:(]

1860-1870 Ivers & Sons Square Grand Piano252 viewsThe age of this piano is unknown because all the company's records were lost.  As near as people can tell me, it was built somewhere around the Civil War.  The serial number is #609--one of the first Ivers made.

1860-1870 Ivers & Sons Square Grand Piano262 viewsI purchased this piano for $400 from a music store that took it in trade.  It plays fine, but as all square grands, it doesn't hold its tune very well.  It is tuned approximately ½ step lower than today's pianos.  Tune it any higher and it breaks strings.  As a result of me breaking a string, I had to replace the bass strings.

1898 Sears & Roebuck Pump Organ395 viewsI was able to date this instrument when I removed the keyboard for the repairs, and found the tuner's mark with the date of 1898 on it.

1898 Sears & Roebuck Pump Organ404 viewsThis organ was purchased for my Grandmother, who lived in Haynes, Alabama (near Prattville/Montgomery).  After the house was ransacked following my Grandmother's death, I transported the organ to my current home where this photo was taken.
I have replaced the broadcloth, and plant to replace the treads with one of the two materials on the organ stool.
