Another hymn stanza on the R-230, this time "Abbot's Leigh." I love this tune, which I unbelievably only recently discovered! (Yes, I know, I don't get out much.) In our Chalice Hymnal, this tune is paired with the lovely text "God Is Here," which we are using tomorrow morning as our processional.

Pedaling on this one is much more awkward for me, as there are long phrases on which I can only "walk" the pedals rather than alternating feet or heel and toe. Better organists surely do this differently, but it gets me by.

John, thanks for your video, you're very good.
Unfortunately the audio is not very good.
I also wanted to make some videos with my organ, but unfortunately I should record the audio on a separate device and then sync video with sound. Too complicated for me

Yes, the audio is bad when using a phone camera. I plan to start recording the audio on a digital recorder and syncing it with the video. Perhaps a better one in a few days! Thanks for watching.

The UMC Hymnal uses ABBOTS LEIGH for "Lord, You Give the Great Commission" as well as "God Is Here".

    Nice playing.

This tune grabs me because it's so very "English!" Whenever I hear or play it, I close my eyes and pretend I'm hearing the choir in an English cathedral.

8787D is such a commonly used meter, you can sing a lot of great texts with it. Any hymn that's paired with Hyfrydol, Beach Spring, Nettleton, Holy Manna, Beecher, and so many more CAN be sung with this tune, though of course a simple match in meter doesn't always make a tune mesh with the mood of a hymn. A truly delightful and refreshing tune though, if a bit harder to pedal and finger than most.

Thanks for sharing more of your organ and your playing! And I appreciate this particular hymn tune as well. My personal feeling is that your choice of feet in pedalling is pretty good. I think you could make it easier for yourself but as you say it definitely does get you by
