    Smile Hammond VS-300

    Alright. no laughing please!
    I know it's not a REAL Hammond, but it's all I got!
    Two comments:
    1. I'm trying to locate the Service Manual and Owner Manual.
    2. The "Swell/Volume" pedal is flaky; works sometimes.
Any help/suggestions, without laughing, greatly appreciated.

Hi, I searched some, I could find some that said it was also known as an Acetone Cadette from Japan (not much info from that, either). There is a good Acetone section at combo-organ.com, but I don't think that model is covered.

It is not an "Acetone" Cadette. The "V" series, including the VS-300, was built in 1973 by Yamaha for Hammond.
The "Organ Service Company" in Illinois lists the VS-300 in their inventory of Hammond parts.

I saw some references to Yamaha as well as Cadette. Perhaps contact the Organ Service Company? Even archive.org doesn't have much about it.

Out of interest, certainly as far as the UK goes, only the very early Cadettes were built by Yamaha. The UK's VS300 was built by Ace Tone, as were all small Hammonds by then. I used to sell them back then and Hammond UK were very open about it. (They had no option after an Ace Tone dealer on a factory visit snapped photos of the 'Hammond' production line and showed them around!) You can tell by the cabinet styling and the pedals used. If the cab and pedals look like a B series Yamaha, then that's who made the organ. Otherwise it's an Ace Tone. The plate on the back will either say Yamaha/Nippon Gakki or Nihon Hammond. What does yours say?

I'd say that you have little or no chance of finding either of the manuals now, with Organ Service Co or W D Greenhill being two possibilities. Expression pedal is either a dirty potentiomer, if it has one, or a dodgy bulb or light dependent resistor if it uses that method.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

No, won't laugh as my organ is not a tonewheel either.

Organ Service Company does list service manuals on their website, http://organservicecompany.com/omanuals.html
I had a quick turnaround time on a question I had several years before I joined the forum from them, yet some members I recall reading have faced a delay in recent years.

In addition Celedonia in the US shows "V" service manuals here:
    http://celedoniaorgan.netfirms.com/c...ort=20a&page=7

WD Greenhill in the UK lists Cadette service manuals here:
    http://www.wdgreenhill.com/manu/hammond.htm

Forum member Jan Girardot has manuals for sale, he may have one.
    Have: Hammond 340212 Elegante
Had: Hammond T-311 and 333114 Colonnade
    Never will have: Laurens Hammond 350 w/ 2 - 751 Leslies
