I purchased this piano for $400 from a music store that took it in trade. It plays fine, but as all square grands, it doesn't hold its tune very well. It is tuned approximately ½ step lower than today's pianos. Tune it any higher and it breaks strings. As a result of me breaking a string, I had to replace the bass strings.

The age of this piano is unknown because all the company's records were lost. As near as people can tell me, it was built somewhere around the Civil War. The serial number is #609--one of the first Ivers made.

This was my mother's piano, purchased by my father just after World War II--probably with the GI Bill.
