Can somebody please tell me why on a lot of 60s - 70s consoles the the volume balances are managed by very crude and limiting boost tabs. This is not a very good way to fine tune the volume balances. Is this a carry over from the days of the pipe organs where everything was done mechanically? Please fill me in. Pictured here is what I consider an ideal setup on my Thomas Celebrity 871 with rotary potentiometers allowing accurate tuning.

Have a musical day,

Skippy

If you can solder? What you can do is get two potentiometers, known as variable resisters to take the place of the single potentiometer. You will then be able to control the volume much better. Please contact me for more details! skbe@mac.com
