    Noisy L102

Hi all, I've been enjoying this forum for many months. Yesterday I picked up a L102 in pretty good condition from a church. Came with a 130 Leslie which is nothing special from what I have read.

The first problem I have is plenty of noise. No hum, just a loud hissing as soon as it's powered on. The noise doesn't change with the volume pedal or any other settings. Could this be bad capicators?

It has a "Rythym II" installed in a little drawer, I'm not sure if this will be contributing to the noise?

Other problems are a few drawbars not functioning for the lower manual and percussion not decaying. Hopefully that's just dirty switches and/or loose wires.

Well... it was the tone generator after all. Needs some oil for sure.

I would suspect the rhythm unit for hiss. There are circuits for cymbals and snare drum that use white noise as part of the sound. There may in fact be an adjustment that is out of spec.

You can clean the drawbars with DeOxit and that should bring them back.

There is an adjustment for percussion decay that might help. Could also be a bad tube in the perc circuit.

I would first take all the tubes out one at a time and clean the pins. Unplug all the RCA cables one at a time and clean and tighten.

    Good luck!
