    M3 Help Please!

I was googling around, and came accross this forum.

I have a problem with my M3, in that when I turn it on,....it's SILENT as all get out. Very nice. However, I've noticed that the top harmonics,.....eh, maybe the last 3 of them, don't work on the upper and lower manuals. Since the TWG is so quiet, I figured that it couldn't be a problem there, it had to be in a wiring connection somewere? Any ideas?

Also, my vibrato isn't working right. If I have it cranked on volume, I can BARELY hear it if I lean down by the speaker,.... and ideas there also?

The vibrato scanner input is driven by the tubes V1 and half of V3.  Check these first for the vibrato problem.

Don't know what you mean by "harmonics" not working... Octaves?  Drawbars that select harmonics?

I'm talking about the drawbars.  The last three or so don't work higher on the register.  Now that I've really been messing around with her, I've noticed a select few keys on the lower register don't work towards the bottom of the lower tier.  Any ideas on how to fix a few keys that don't work?

Work one problem at a time... The keys that don't work are probably contact problems... clean the contact bars carefully... and they may shift sideways to have new striking areas.

You need to check IF the higher keys are supposed to work... there may be some that aren't supposed to work... I can't answer to that, but I can see that it may be the way it works and have seen modifications for "foldback" which might be to fix this problem.

The reason you are missing sounds on the upper keys with the higher drawbars is that Hammond spinets don't have "foldback". On the 1' drawbar, the highest frequency is the F# and octave + tritone. On a B-3, at that point, the next G would jump back an octave. On the M-3s et.al. the tones just end. Other harmonics do the same, stopping at the key with the highest frequency.

    Good Luck,

AH!  Well thank you very much.  I was beginning to wonder if that was the case actually.  Any ideas on the few keys that aren't putting anything out on my lower register?  I mainly need to find SOMETHING that gives me a visual on how to get back in there to clean the contacts.  The rapid hitting of the keys didn't seem to work,.....
