    Conn 651 and Leslie Speaker

    Hi-

I have a Conn 651 and a Leslie 145; can they be hooked up together.  The Conn already has a 6 pin connector on it, but I don't know if the 145 will work with it.  Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

     Thanks

DON'T PLUG THE 145 IN THERE!!

That socket is for a 251 series leslie only. Although it's 6 pin, the wiring is different and so is the speed switching. The 145 uses mains AC to switch speeds and you don't want that going where it shouldn't. With the schematics of the 651 and the pin wiring of the 145 it might be possible to make a modification to the organ to let the socket power a 145. If not, then google up the details ( or do asearch here on the forum ) on the 26-1 connector kit and you can make one up pretty easily.

It's not what you play, it's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

    Thanks Andy!!

The Leslie is currently hooked up to my Hammond (so I am sure that the Leslie and the Hammond both thank you).  I have always liked the 651 and found one in perfect shape for next to nothing but I can't find a 251 for it.

    Anyway, thanks for the info!!

The 145 (147 amp) is exactly the same as the rotary channel of a 251. Here is the difference and what you have to do to use it on the Conn. You won't need a kit and it should have speed control (except "off") from the organs Leslie tabs. Your problems are on Pin 5 of the output jack. On the 251, pin 5 is the input for the "secondary" channel. On a 147 (6W config) pin 5 is jumpered to pin 4 which is AC mains in. If you remove the wire from pin 5 of the output jack on the Conn, (in the 6>6 cable, the brown wire), you can plug the 145 right into it. You'll only get the Tibias through the Leslie.

If you don't remove the wire from pin 5, you'll be putting 115VAC on the secondary channel and the result will probably be smoke!

    Good luck.
