Hi Guys,

There's a C 3 & 122 for sale in my area. He's asking a lot. Eq to about 4kUS

I have a L100 & 910 but I want a C3/B3 and a 122 would be great, but... maybe I should wait for something better in price?

 

You didn't indicate just where your area is, but 4K is WAY overpriced IMO, at least it is here in the Deep South.

in the USA a C3 is worth about 500 to 1000 dollars (US) ..my opinion anyhow..........a Leslie 122 about 750 to 1500 depending on condition.


depends largely on location: Europe would be MUCH higher..I'm not sure about prices in Australia, but I guessing the price there would be much higher than in the USA similar to Europe maybe?..I"m not sure about that.

4K is right on the money if it's clean and fully working. We buy and sell used Hammonds all the time and I would ask (and get) more than that. Again, if it's clean and fully working. The last couple of B-3's we sold went for 9K. (Extra clean w/Leslies)

Of course we fully service them, deliver and warranty.

If you're not in a hurry, they CAN be found for less.

C3/122 in good nick in my neck of the woods @ USD$4K is good buying.  A B3/122 went recently for AUD$11K and the buyer shipped it to the UK!

This seems a little low to me, again maybe this has to do with regional differences (I'm currently in the NE.)  I've only ever seen one C3 go for less than $1000 on Ebay - that one went for a little over $800.  Usually the pattern seems to be the A100s go for a little over $1000; C3s go for more, but not into the insane B3 stratosphere.  From what I've seen usual prices would be something like the $1400 - $2300 range for a C3, higher with a Leslie of course.  (these are all non-dealer prices though.)  I always figured the C3 had a higher value based not only on its similarity to the B3, but for two other reasons: 1) appeal for (gospel) churches, 2) it has a pedigree in its own right with famous players like Jon Lord, Benmont Tench etc. playing C3s onstage.

--Again of course location makes a huge difference, so I'm not necessarily contradicting NYCFB here.  This is just what I've seen in my area. Then there are also always ridiculous bargains to be had out there -- a guy on another Hammond list said he just scored a C3 *and* a CV at an auction for $20!  You never know...

I've often wondered how pricing would compare between C3s and B2s.  I never seem to see very many B2s, but it'd be interesting to know which commands more of a premium.  They're both just one tick off from the B3, so which is worth more to people: the -3 series features in a non-B cabinet, or the leggy B cabinet without percussion? hmm...

Because of the popularity of the B-style cabinet, I'd rather buy the B-2, especially if it had the smooth drawbars. A TrekII perc kit can be added and it will sell!

Personally, I'd take the C-3. I think though the TrekII percussion sounds great, the tube Percussion of the -3 series is the absolute best. For jazz and Gospel)

Heck, buy both. Take the C-3 guts and put them in the B-2 cabinet and visa versa. Now, you have a B-3 and a C-2.

--just a word to the wise: you'll want to make sure it actually *is* a C3 as opposed to a C2, CV, D, or C.  Lots of sellers are imprecise about the model designation, I think generally not out of dishonesty but more out of ignorance.  With a 122, it likely is actually a C3 since the 122 came out a number of years after the C3 replaced the earlier Hammond models... but you'll want to make sure.  At least here in the US, prices begin to fall drastically as you get away from the "gold standard" -3 series.  Also in connection with what George was saying, lots of people will take a CV or a C2, add TrekII percussion, and then call it a C3 in their advertisements.  If you have any questions about what features equate to which models, post back and we'll help.  good luck,
