    Novachord project

For those of you who think your project is hard, look at this one: [:S]

http://www.discretesynthesizers.com/nova/intro.htm (how do you turn this into a clickable link?)

That is some great work to be proud of.

    Hammonds: A; AB; B3; D; E; 6-M3's; 2-A100; T582C.
    Leslies: 3-31H; 21H, 22H, 4-44W; 46W; 25; 47; 45; 125; 50C; 51; 55C; 2-120; 122; 122A; 145; 147; 245; 770; 825; 2-102; 2-103; 300.
Wicks 2/5 pipe organ; Yamaha upright; Kurzweil Micro Piano & Micro B with M-Audio Oxygen 61; Yamaha DGX520; Wurlitzer 4100 (it came with a Leslie!). Peavey KB100 keyboard amp. Peavey Bass Guitar. Yes, I have A. D. (acquisition disorder) and don't want it cured.

Yes, it is absolutely superb. We've covered it a few times before! []

    Something to aspire to.

You want a hyperlink like this, you mean![]

    http://www.discretesynthesizers.com/nova/intro.htm

OK, just type it in, then highlight it and copy it with Ctrl-C. The 'chain' icon in the toolbar above will no longer be greyed out. Click on the chain and paste the link into the resulting dialogue box with Ctrl-V. Click on Insert and the job's done.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

    Thanks for sharing that Admiral!

It is great to see some diversity from the regular threads.

Does anyone have any audio samples of a Novachord that could be posted on the forum?

Andy.........thanks for the lesson. Copy and paste is no problem but I couldn't figure out how to get the link box to open/ungray after doing the paste. I even tried to put it in where images go. That won't work, by the way! I guess when one has been on here long enough things tend to recirculate.

Dave......that website has samples on it I think. I thought it might be fun and different for a change.

This one sounds amazingly like a pipe organ.

Its got quite a sound. Its interesting if you think about it. After having only heard these on lo fi 50's recordings, I didnt think much of them. After hearing it recorded with modern equipment, it's simply unreal.*

The other cute irony is that 6 years before that Novachord was made, Hammond distrusted tubes as a tone source. That thing has more than a hundred in it!*

This topic looks related. I stumbled on an LP "The HI-Fi Hands of Hank Sylvern play organ, novachord, piano, and celeste" Friday at Goodwill. From the surface condition I don't believe it has ever been played. Not too bad. I believe the Novachord is the one where the notes kind of sneak in, like semi-strings, or the vibrato has a variable speed, or something. This is really ancient, as Wikipedia says Mr. Sylvern died 7/4/64. It says he played for Tom Corbett, Space Cadette and wrote the Space Academy March and the theme to Rin Tin Tin. A real Space Cadette!
I'm sorry, there is an analog-digital divide between my music system and my text based computer. Google say you can buy this on I-tunes. The Very Thought of You is a track that might have a nova-string effect on it.
    city Hammond H-182 organ (2 ea),A100,10-82 TC,Steinway 40" console piano, Sohmer 39" piano, Ensoniq EPS, Wurlitzer 4500, Dynakit ST120, ST70 amps, Herald Ra88 Mixer, Peavey SP2XT speakers,BIC turntable; country Hammond H112.
