    Lost blind organist??

It was in the late 70's or early 80's that I became aware of an theater organistnamed "Candi" or "Candy". I thought she had a great future but lost track of her.

Anyone know what happened to heror might remember her full name?? I wouldn't mind owning an album if there are any about.

    Thanks,

    Al

Candi Carley (not sure on the spelling) I saw her in New York, at the Riviera Theatre in N. Tonawanda, back in the late '80's. Awesome performer!

Candi Carley. I have heard her, she is good. That was some years ago and I don't remember where.

As said above, her name is Candi Carley, now Candi Carley-Roth. She is on the organist listing at Atos.org, so I'd guess she is still active, at least on occasion. The listing says she's in Pennsylvania.

I heard her a number of times when she was still living at home in SoCal, playing at "The Great American Wind Machine", a pizza parlor with Wurlitzer in Reseda, CA.

She had a driving swing-based style, influenced by folks like Duke Ellington, Fats Waller, etc. VERY exciting listening!

In addition to playing, she sometimes would accompany herself singing... I much preferred the voices of the Wurlitzer.

She made three theatre-organ albums that I know of, each of which I have a copy... Would LOVE to digitalize them, don't have the equipment or the money to acquire such at the moment.

Haven't heard any of the music on the albums in years, except for one track... I found "I Got Rhythm" by Candi in an archive at

http://www.musicnostalgia.com in the "Hot Pipes" show archive.

In your 3/19/09 post, you wrote you have 3 of Candi Carley's albums. Can you send me the names of the albums, please. Maybe I can find them on Amazon or ebay. Please e-mail me at: nani2121@msn.

I only have 1 album of hers and would definitely like more.

    Thank you

    Sincerely, JIll

I've recently put photos of Candi on the new TOSA NSW Facebook page. She played a show series in Australia some years ago
