As Cameron Carpenter has been out for a couple of years, on the recital circuit and it has been four years since the instalment of the M & O organ at Trinity Church NY, has your opinion of Cameron and the electronic organ changed?
We haven't had the opportunity of hearing him play in the UK. I wish he would do a tour here. Does he play anything else other than 'lollipops' and piano arrangements? I would love to see some YouTubes of him playing some serious organ repertoire on other organs, particularly some pipe organs.
I like his distinctivness and his ability to crossover from classical to theatre. But if he is the 'maverick', as he is made out to be in his PR, I would like to hear him add something fresh to the traditional repertoire too and give us his own insight/interpretation with some of these works.
He has definately created a stir....something I think the organ world could always use.
All publicity is good publicity...he is attracting new interest in the organ from a very fresh and unique perspective not seen since Virgil Fox.....I think that is a wonderful thing even if I may disagree with his use of electric substitutes for places that had a real organ already in place.
Hi,*
** Is anyone else going to Cameron Carpenter's Expose at Middle Collegiate Church next weekend? I am going to the Saturday sessions, Sunday morning service, and Sunday afternoon concert.*
** *I haven't heard him live, but have seen the clips on the church's site and youtube. I will be interesting to hear the new organ live. I hope it's worth it. He has phenomenal technique and seems to be doing a lot to attract people to the organ. You can argue with his interpretations (and I might!). *Yes, Greg, his repertoire runs the gamut from Bach and Franck to Demessiux. The Sunday afternoon concert is all Bach; I'd rather hear the evening one but I don't think I can fit it in. Anyway, I hope it gives me a lift.*

Cameron is coming to the UK to play at the Royal Albert Hall, London next month. I cannot wait []
I heard a story that when CC played in Florida a few years ago, numerous concert goers walked out, having expected a more timid concert. Some later requested refunds. Those who remained however, were happy enough by the end of the concert. I think that "Stars and Stripes" calmed their nerves.
So, in as much as art should stir emotion, CC can be effective!
Hard to imagine a better way to entice young people into learning more about serious music.
Stumbled on a video of CC at the M&O at Wall ST. I am impressed. The man has a stunning technique and every note sounded fine to me so I can only imagine all the negativity is envy.

My goodness- at the risk of this thread being moved to the Greasepit as well... why do you seem to think that any time someone disagrees with Cameron's interpretation that it must be because that person is envious of him??!
DellAnderson denied being Cameron.... ...maybe you're Cameron!!
Because when people take shots at celebrities it is to make themselves into somebodies. If you would kindly post a video of you playing anything maybe we can see your point better.
No! That's just wrong! I'm not envious of Cameron, and I'm NOT trying to "make myself into [a] somebody"!!Because when people take shots at celebrities it is to make themselves into somebodies.
No! It's irrelevant! If you would kindly post a video of you playing anything maybe we can see your point better.
