    The Challenge of Living With A Non-Musician...

    Hi all;

    A little levity at this late hour, 2 in the morning from where I sit. I got my M-3 in the house the other night, after working to fix it for about a month--repeated and sincere thanks to everyone here for being so helpful and merciful. It was an interesting challenge getting it from the garage/workshop to the living room without a "proper" furniture dolly or set of organ carriers like I used to use in my days of working at music stores, but I managed with a little help.

    Once I got in in the house and placed where it's going for now, my wonderful wife, whom I love very, very much, stood back and said... "I don't know; it just makes it look... it looks like something you'd see in an old folks' home..."

    Oy, vey...

    Maybe if I put a nicely framed picture of Jimmy Smith on top..?

    Good Night;

    RW

    That little "Old Folks" organ is probably the most common organ in America. Combined with the original M, the M2, and the M3 well over 100,000 of them were made.

    Don't let her profane it with picture frames and doilies, that doesn't help it either.

    Play "Longtime/Foreplay" and "Green Onions" and let her hear the "old folks" music it can do.

    And don't let her use it to provide a stand for part of her [our?] cuddly toy collection - pic will be posted to explain!

    Wicked thought! [6]

    It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

    At least her statement didn't end with "get rid of it.".

    Thank God for all the little old ladies who have taken care of these things for the next generation!

    I play an M3 in a rock outfit, and I keep threatening to deck out the top with doilies, family photos, and precious moments. Maybe one of those fat, dusty, golden baroque candles.

    I say let her profane it any way she likes if it makes her feel good about you parking it in the living room.

    At least you all have organs that look like furniture. Try convincing your wife that your '74 Sunn Coliseum 8x12 stack looks good in the corner of the living room.

    See--if Sunn was as smart as Hammond and Leslie, they would have thought of that.

    Show her a Pic of the H or T-500 series with the provincial cabinet and the cassette deck on the right cheek block.

    Not only do they exude fogey, they look as gaudy as a Gold nugget Rollex Watch with sequin studded dials.

    I think she'll then be glad you got the cute one, with Mojo.

    ...Well, it should go without saying that she got the "cute one with Mojo" when she married me... []
