Yes that was an excellent story. Had me occupied from start to end, which isn't easy. It also reminds me that I need to practice more! Thanks for posting it!

Great reading!! I still think every organist should read "The Dish".

I feel grateful to have heard Virgil in concert back in my younger days. What a first class musician and showman.

Wish I could have heard Virgil, too. "The Dish" was, however, gosh awful.

    regards THE DISH....

    a great read.
very highly recommend that as well... gives insight on an amazing era of the organ world at perhaps one of its highpoints. very entertaining as well!

I'm just barely too young to have heard/experienced the Biggs/Fox escapades, but I find them both, Fox and Biggs to be great crusaders for the organ in each their own way.

One little tidbit I learned from THE DISH...Virgil loved chocolate ice cream with peach pie...I have tried that and did enjoy it greatly!!!!!!

The thoughts from Clary are great.

Thanks for your views, guys. For me, however, "The Dish" was anything but an overall good read and I would not recommend it (unless highly edited). I liked the pictures and there were some very interesting comments. But I was hoping for an inspirational read I could recommendto all generations to enjoy. Instead, the collaborators decided to include some stupid, coarse jokes and off color statements of Fox made, in private, to some friends that seem incredulous he would have ever wanted to them bepublished in a book about his life. Is that what friends do, wait until your dead to write such things? Do you think Virgil would have been honored and pleased to have had the book, in its entire form, published? And a chapter title based onsexual innuendo? All in the name of "some adult fun" I guess.Believe me, I am no perfect person (I stand at the front of the "Imperfect Line"), but the book went over the top and, at best, lacked taste. Until a definitive biography is written, we have his recordings which serve as his best legacy.

In answer to your questions..........yes, yes and yes. There are several folks here in Atlanta (friends of mine) who knew Virgil well and I can assure you that he would have been very pleased at the content of "The Dish". That's the great thing about this Forum, is all a matter of opinion. IMO 'The Dish" was a great account of Virgil's life and was far from over the top. Different strokes for different folks.[]

Where is this "The Dish" I keep hearing about? Is it a book? Where can it be found?

EDIT: Never mind, I just found it on Amazon. I guess I should have googled it once before asking here!.
