Thread: Looking for some idea of value for a Lowrey the Genie organ L-5/L-15

I've been using on of those Tenie Genies when we entertain children ar my library. It's cheesy sounding, doesn't do much and is comfusing to the uninitiated. It's great for endless rounds of Old McDonald had a Farm. It would be more useful if it could be operated as a true single manual organ but that isn't possible with that model. Mine however is in absolutely perfect pristine condition. You would be doing well if someone would pay $50 for it.

I'm guessing $499 or so. A chunk o' change in those days for something that couldn't even be played like a normal organ.

    Hi,

I used to work for Lowrey and this organ was one of the models assembled in my department. I dont recall what the MSRP was for this model but I believe it was something like $ 1500 or more ! Hard to believe for something so simple.

Does anyone here know anything about the Lowrey CG-1 "the Genie organ?" I specifically want to know if it has a built in Leslie speaker unit and if its a tube or transistor organ. I think it was late 60's vintage. I could get it & delivered for 100. Thanks

IC-G. It's from 1969, the bottom model of the range, and I'm afraid it's absolute rubbish. It's real value is zero. They should perhaps pay YOU to take it away. You can get much better, bigger and later organs for free, or for pennies, so hold out for something that's decent.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

    Thanks Andy,

Was mostly interested in it if it had a Leslie unit I could remove.

No leslie in this one, you should be able to find a non-runner with a leslie unit in it for free, but alas many of them reach landfill before anyone thinks of advertising them for parts or repair.

Yeah, I've seen a quite a few Gems,Thomas, other Lowery's that do have Leslies for free, I was tempted by the delivery provided, but without the Leslie unit you are absolutely correct sir, the I-CG is worthless.

    I already have enough desks!
