    WOWOWOW !!!!!!!!!!

    The card arrived!

It sounds FABULOUS !!!!! Incredible, [more adjectives!!].. !!

Greg did a Great job in creating Theater Organ registrations! -- and he told me I'm the only other person in the world other than himself who has these! [I'm honored!]

I was a bit worried because the package arrived opened and resealed.. and it said 'Scanned - Damaged' on it..

The card and its containers were in good condition though.

It's a Kawai DC-8 card, and requires a special way to load - but it DOES load!!! The MX2 doesn't retain the sounds in memory if you reset or restart the organ..

I'm still waiting to hear from Jeff about the floppy drive and LCD display.. hopefully soon!

In the meantime.. it is such a BLAST to play a 'Theater Organ' on my MX2 !!! I never expected the organ to do this.. and I'm loving Lowrey organs even more!!!

It's been awhile and I called Royal Music to check the status of my floppy drive and LCD display.

Jeff has been very busy, and he told me to call next week. He hasn't had time yet to test the floppy drives he has..

-- For now, I'm going to tuck in for some bangers and mash and a cuppa! LOL .. well, spaghetti.. heh

I just now was finally able to make ends meet with Jeff regarding the floppy drive and the LCD display..

Rather than him taking an organ apart to test the drives, he will send me a few to test, and he did locate the errant LCD display he misplaced before..

-- So, once the stuff arrives, I will be tearing my MX2 apart, and installing the drive and display!

    I like Good News!!

You know, I AM excited about getting the floppy drive..

BUT.. I'm NOT excited about dismantling 2/3's of the organ to install it! LOL

Well, it would hopefully only be needed to be done once.. [One can hope, eh?]

    ----

I did record a quick [and 'rough'] test of some of the new Theater sounds..

[be advised that I didn't place the recorder/mic in a good spot.. and there's little bass]

Nonetheless, here it is if you like:

    https://app.box.com/s/0g7vtfmeklhhdkbd7gh9hdfpg5swq5fp

I am only now learning where the 10 registrations are - the 10 buttons are under the UM and I need to associate which buttons produce which sounds, etc..
I will eventually make a much better recording..

I just thought I'd post this as a little 'intermission' in my thread.. until I can start to tackle the installation of the floppy drive and LCD display.
Installing the display is very quick and easy.. just a couple minutes to do.

    STILL waiting..

Jeff told me to send him my address. - Done.
    It's now 5 days later...

I sent him an email so that I'll know when I might visit the post office [I live some miles away, and no USPS home deliveries]..

    No answer.... yet.

I sent another email to make sure he got the other one..

    Now in a 'holding pattern'...

-- The fellow that sold me my MX2 STILL has not sent me the bench or music rack. It's been 6 months now.

He would tell me here and there [only if I sent him a message] this-or-that has happened.

I am a patient fellow.. but almost about to give up. The last bit of info I gleaned was that the stuff is in his storage 'room', and 2 weeks ago he was supposed to find out how much shipping the stuff would be.

    -- still no answer.

I imagine that either he has had REALLY bad things going on [it *could* happen], - or I'm getting the 'brush-off' treatment.

I may call him directly one more time.. and if nothing improves.. I'll have to count the bench and rack as a loss.

At least I have the organ! -- and for now, I'm using the bench from my Thomas for the MX2...

I've had more problems with benches!!

Two of my Wersi organs have NO bench. Wersi benches ARE very nice - and adjustable [at least the ones I was supposed to have were!!]..

As such, I swap my benches around..

    I called Jeff earlier today.

He said he did get my emails.. ok..

He then said he will try and get the drives and display mailed tomorrow... and get a tracking number.
Living way out in the desert, there is no USPS local deliveries.. only FedEx and UPS. Having only a limited amount of gas each month, I take few trips to the post office...

I just got back from the Post Office.. they floppy drives and display are here!

I'm going to skip lunch for now, and at least install the display.. I've had the back of the organ off for months now.. in anticipation of fixing the floppy drive and display..

I'll report back here in a little while and give an update.. I really hope the display is BRIGHT !

    Phooey !!

I just installed the 'new' display.. It's exactly the same brightness as my old one!!!

Since I have no reference to compare these to, I'll just assume they are the proper brightness.

They are readable, just only half as bright as the 2-digit green display above it on the right..

Thankfully this was a very easy task! It took longer to solder the 2 wires for the power connector than it took to install it.

The good news is that I at least have 2 working displays - in case one dies..

I'm hoping that tomorrow or over the weekend, I will tackle the floppy drive job!

    YES !!!!!

I remembered I can test a floppy drive via the rear of the organ by unplugging the internal one, and using the cables routed to the back of the organ.

I just tested all 3 drives, and 2 of them work!!!

Hopefully this weekend, I will install a good drive!

    ****

Sadly still.. the fellow who sold me the organ is no longer responding to either my texts or emails. I think it's safe to say that now I will not be getting either the music rack nor the bench for my MX2 .... SIGH...

So! Good news at last! A good display and a floppy drive!

I was able to format and copy/save.. and have made 2 floppy disks of those Theater Organ registrations Greg sent me. I will also copy those files from the floppy to my PC as an archive.
