    Sub Bass and Bass Couplers

Is the Sub Bass stop a path to a set of reeds that produce 16' tone, independent of the other reed ranks?

Does a Bass Coupler add an octave of keys toward the bass while playing in the normal register?

I've got to get this straight in my head, because at age 81, I'm about to buy my last organ, which will be a reed organ.

Sub bass is an independent set of reeds. The coupler is just a mechanical contrivance to make another key go down when a key is pressed; whether an octave higher or lower depends.
