    Lots of current turntables incorporate a preamp with USB outputs to take care of things like magnetic cartridge signal levels and RIAA curves, etc.

    Colin Pykett has written an article titled "The Tonal Structure of Organ Principal Stops" that provides a detail discussion of the differences between the various Principals. He also provides a link to the sounds of the various Principals.

    The article is available on the internet. You might find his other articles of interest as well.
