Jezza,
What exactly are you doing to yourself to make yourself a soprano? That might give us a clue to the diagnosis.

Last Christmas, we were having fun in a music lesson at school singing carols. I'm a bass (I think) and I attempted to sing the descant of O come all ye faithful at soprano pitch. After a while, I had to stop because I got a headache, thenI felt like I was going to puke!
And today, signing along to some music, it happened again when I tried singing way too high. What is going on?

You're singing "way too high". (Occam's Razor)
Rob
I would be careful about singing soprano pitch in falsetto if you are a bass. You could damage your vocal chords if you are not doing it properly.
Hmmm. My singing makes other people feel ill! [:S]
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

I don't even try to sing soprano lines, I top out somewhere around an octave up from middle C, and my falsetto is so non-existent that it is a waste of my time to try, and it makes me uncomfortable (well, I just cannot produce those soprano pitches)[^o)]. but I agree the Occam's Razor diagnosis is the best one, you're singing way too high. The descant was written for soprano (of some form or another) and maybe an extremely well trained alto, but a bass, it is rather absurd to do so (although, I realize the whole point in your singing the descant was to be absurd)[Y][B][S][<)][

(I better stop now, before I get too emoticon happy)[B][Y][H]
I am sure what the others have posted is the probable cause. However, not to be too much of an alarmist, if you have any other symptoms (fainting, etc. upon exertion or rise in blood pressure) there is a tiny possibility of a brain aneurism.*I am writing this with great trepidation (and with the best of intents, I assure you) but you might want to mention this to a good physician. A friend of mine (and his sister) both died of ruptured brain aneurisms when they were in their 50's. It must have been a genetic disorder in their case.Sorry to be so morbid. I won't say any more other than, take care. Now, back to organs.......John

All I tried was to make my voice sound like a woman, then I found I could sing at their pitch. But I doubt my lungs and vocal chords are designed to do that...
