I guess I may as well introduce myself here with my first post.

I worked for a number of years as a professional violinist (symphony circuit and taught at a school of music and a private college) but retired when the 1st kid came along and the long hours of playing and driving weren't mixing well with sleepless nights. I occasionally pull it out to play with the local orchestra - last year I did BB5 with them. Mostly these days my "legit" axe is playing principal clarinet in the local symphony. I also play sax and clarinet in a big band, a tower of power type band and sometimes I'll play with the local concert band when the family schedule allows. I prefer theater pit work, but that doesn't happen much around here. At one point I was timpanist with a semi pro opera company. I still enjoy percussion but my drums are scattered in the garage and my marimba is in the basement buried under violins at the moment.

I recently joined up with a band where I play bass guitar, sax and keyboard. I had been playing on a Privia 130 but got tired of the qualities of the patches needed for the songs we were doing not being quite right. It wasn't that bad - pretty decent really - but I prefer to use the real deal whenever possible. Along that line I ended up here. Last week I picked up a dead mint M3 in mostly perfect playing condition. A few stubborn notes that I am sure some repetition will clear up and some static in the drawbars but a VERY clean example - I can't even find a scratch on the bench! I think the percussion may be down, but I suspect it is me not knowing how to run the machine yet which is the problem.

Lots of great info here and I will probably be lurking more than posting here as I don't have much to add - other than questions. Thanks for the great site!

My musical background is in the clarinet, which I studied at the university level, and have played for about 15 or so years. I have just recently begun to play the organ, which I love even more so than the clarinet! Still, it is nice to play winds every once in a while.
