    Orgasonic Pedals Don't Work

I have a Baldwin Orgasonic Organ. Model 77. I bought it from a thrift store and none of the pedals work. It's not just the foot pedals, but the volume pedal and the pedal on the inside of the volume pedal (I don't even know what that does). I find it strange that none of the things on the bottom half of the keyboard work. I opened it up to dust and clean. The cables coming out of all three of these things were independant of eachother. There are no faulty connections and everything looks fine. Could it be the amp? Please help.

OK. I fixed the volume pedal. But the inside pedal (might be pitch bend) and bass pedals still don't work. I think the side pedal only affects the bass pedal notes, and since the bass pedals don't work, it has nothing to affect. It may very well be working fine, just*no way of telling.*

There are two tubes in the amp, does one power the bass notes, because that would be an easy solution I would assume.

Could be a lot of things. One thing to check, a lot of Orgasonics have a separate internal volume control for the pedals. If you look at the back of the organ with the back cover off, look up near the top and toyour right(bass end). You may see a stub of a control shaft sticking downward from the assembly that holds the stop tabs (what Baldwin calls the "tone color assembly." There may be one or two corresponding controls on the left. These are the channel levels and may or may not even be marked. One of them controls the pedal volume and you might twist it back and forth to see if it has developed a "dead spot" where it's been stuck for decades.

Other than that, there are just a number of things that can be wrong with one of those. It is sometimes easy to get one going, sometimes not -- speaking as an organ technician. They can be nice little organs to play with and practice on, so it would be worth it to have a technician look at it if you can't fix it yourself.

    Good luck.
