    Allen 400 Series...HELP

I have the oppertunity to buy an Allen Theatre Organ from the 70"s. It has 5 complete octaves in both keyboard and a complete pedalboard. It seems to work fine...They are asking $200 for it, it will cost about $500 to get it moved. Is it worth it to get it? It would be for my son who is studying the pipe organ?
    Thanks,
    Mark

These are the first series of Allen digital organs, so the sound is so-so. It's good to add a digital reverb to make the sound a bit warmer.

Watch out for the "Princess" pedal board--it's smaller than AGO (which is what a pipe organ usually has), but the largest models of this series of organs did have AGO pedals.

Note that these were, to my knowledge, organs with theatrical voicing, so not the best of choices for classical organ practice. But definitely better than nothing.

    Toodles.
