1934 Glasgow Paramount Compton Cinema organ being installed in Acme, Indiana, USA

    Hi all,

In the process of installing one of the 4 "Paramount" Compton 4 manual cinema organs built in the UK for theatres there.
This one was orginally a 10 rank 4 manual instrument...I am enlarging it to 16 Compton ranks.

    They are:

    1. Metal Tibia (unique to Compton) 16'-2'
    2. Diapason (with 16' Diaphone extention) common metal/lead, 16'-4'
    3. Krummet
    4. Stopped Flute (metal) 16' - 4'
    5. Violin 8'
    6. Violin Celeste (TC)
    7. Clarinet
    8. English Horn (really more a Trumpet by the way built)
    9. Tuba
    10. Vox Humana

    added ranks:

    11. 2nd Vox Humana (smaller scale)
    12. Orchestral Oboe
    13. Salicional 16-4'
    14 & 15: Strings II (a unique 2 rank String on a single chest)
    16. 2nd Diapason 4' -2' (spotted metal)

    Will be posting photographs soon!

That sounds interesting John. I've just discovered that the 3/10 Compton I grew up on is now less than 10 miles from me in a private residence. It needs some work but once done, I'll be able to play it once again. It will be interesting to compare the stop list. Those 10 ranks sound familiar but it was in the mid to late 70's when last played it. What you now need is the electrostatic Melotone unit!
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

OH Andy..I forgot..I HAVE A MELOTONE TOO!!!! (that is shocking no!!!!)... BUT..the disks on it are totally shot and I'll be having to source new disks for the mechanism in the UK. Ian Macnaught is going to help me with that..do you have any sources?
