    David Johnson's Trumpet Tunes

Any recommendations on which of David Johnson's Trumpet tunes are best for beginners? I'm still working my way back into music after a 9-year absence.

David Johnson's Trumpet Tunes are great because a lot of them are near sight-readable. Some of them are a little mediocre and don't do much but there are gems. Here are my favourites from the collection (ranked in terms of easiest down to hardest)

Trumpet Tune in D (probably the best known out of the whole collection)

Sight-readable for you, perhaps! I was away from Organ and Piano for nearly 10 years and need to get back into it.

I've been mainly exploring manuals-only stuff, so English and Spanish Baroque. The tiny 3-rank single-manual instrument I play is really an overgrown Positiv.

I am looking into these trumpet tunes as something for a much larger 3-manual instrument which I have been invited to play.

Good luck! How long do you have to prepare?

It won't be any time soon, but I figure that I should start working on a couple. I have just about mastered a manuals-only arrangement of Stanley's Voluntary in D, which I have used on a couple of occasions. I originally prepared manuals-only stuff because I would often have to play on an electric piano with an organ sound instead of a proper organ. It is basically Stanley's original score with repeats much the same as the version best known by Diane Bish.
