My newest PC has Win 2k on it. It does what I need it to do, and besides I can only get dialup internet here anyway. Up till a couple years ago I had been running NT4 for nearly a decade. I upgraded to 2k for the USB.
I used Macs in high school and college and really liked them. My gf at the time always wanted to debate as to why PC was better. Now that I'm the one buying and maintaining the computer, I like PC since I can scavenge just about anything and make it into something that will work.
Someday when my ex gets the rest of her stuff out, I'll have more room in the music room and plan to set up a PC with Audacity. Not for recording, but for practice. I had been wanting a method of practice for CDs and digital media that was similar to my beloved cassettes, and my friend showed me Audacity and it looked just about perfect.

Great point!!! Don't get me started on Mac's "phone home" messages. GarageBand wouldn't work for my students for a month or so because it was continually attempting to phone home and was being blocked by our firewall at work. We had to turn the airports off to get it to work. When I told the Apple programmers, their response was less than heartening!Originally Posted by wagonman76
