It will change the crossover frequency, but no one will tell you how much....apparently it is advance physics.....

I just noticed today that the 15" woofer I bought is 8ohm and I just found out I need a 16 ohm. Will that woofer work? I bought it off of Craigslist brand new in box so there's no return. Or do I just have to pony up and purchase another woofer?

So I'd need to buy a 16ohm then? I've seen some run the 8ohm not sure what the sound difference is.

I would try it, as someone suggested, use a 8 drawbar and see where the crossover point is by ear starting at A440, others may and will differ, and it depends on which horn driver you use.........as you said others have done it and I have seen it too
just make sure you hook up the crossover properly

BTW ...I ran a 145 with an 8 ohm for years, it came that way and at the time I didn't know any better, ran another 147on an 8 ohm stereo amp...before I went to trade school and found I couldn't.
There must be a quick calculation out there but....................

Best to run a 16 ohm speaker in there. It won't hurt the amp but will mess with the balance and crossover frequency.

The amp should have a little more power when using a 16.

With an 8, I'd think that the XO would drop to 400 (as you now have twice the attenuation in the XO as you would have with a 16).

If it makes you feel any better, I think he's wrong.

(where think = interpret wikipedia and several other sites that I don't completely understand)
