Thread: Vertical internal leslie motor to horizontal?

Vertical internal leslie motor to horizontal?

I have a T-421 that is being slowly restored and a motion sound (rip) pro-3x...
I've read here somewhere that the T-400 series' internal vertical leslie can be modified to operate horizontally.

    How do you do that?

Could the motor handle a bigger rotor? The 16" one for 15" speakers?
I want to build something like the old motion sound low-pro with it...

some Hammond spinets had the big rotor stack motors, the one I salvaged did, usual cheap spinets had small or single speed motors.
The only mod required is the small motor spring needs replacing (or adjusting) depending which way the motor faces in your mod to allow the motor to shift position, I have some threads on here about motors, so do others. Search under 710 Leslie or my name (gotta run)

The T's did have full sized leslie motors, so you're in luck. It'll handle a full sized rotor easy.

Here's how to adjust the springs (picture below.) Sometimes you'll need to stretch or shorten the spring, or just get a kit from Rick at Tonewheel General:

    1967ish Leslie 122
    1975 T500 (modded..chopped, and reassembled!)
    DIY 760 FrankenLeslie/rat hideout
    1992 Korg 01W/fd
    1992 G&L S-500 geetar
    1990 Jansen GMF150 amp.
    Yamaha electric Harmonium (early 80's?)
Rhodes MkII stage piano - borrowed (Now returned. Now I'm sad.)
    And I touched a 1958 M3 once.

inverted bolts and stand.jpgturn the two bolts 180* around in the motor, lets you disassemble to adjust without taking the adapter plate off..takes a second....saves way more time later, this may take a few trys

    You guys are awesome!
I did manage to win an auction for a 16" rotor... So the project is under way, I'll keep you guys posted with my progress...
My restoration already has a website, in case anyone's interested in seeing my efforts...

Right now the organ is in 100% functioning order, but since I had to do so much to it, I'm still gonna try out some mods...

    Har har!!

Yup, a van is the complete answer, no matter which part of the band you play.

P'raps that's why I didn't get asked to play in many bands...

I remember hearing stories of bands who had a key roadie or band member specifically because they had the wheels!
