    Hammond T-582 Transistor cross reference

    Hi,

I've been working on my new T-582 and found a bad transistor on the vibrato circuit. However I can't find the specs of it. Any idea of a good replacement transistor for this circuit?

It's Q804 the number on it is 188 021240 7326 (the red transistor)

    Thanks

    Simon

    Hi Simon

The red Transistor is not, from what I can see, Q801, but Q804. Its part number was 001-021240., VCB 75, VCE 75, VBE 5, IC 3A, W 1.7, HFE 40-120, Equ D42C8. Source Hammond Service Technical Aid 9/80.

Hope that might help you find a replacment.

    Thanks Malcolm!
    You're right it's Q804...
I'll look for something like this.

You can often google for substitute lists for these type of parts. I have done when fixing solid state Leslies.

I have made a note of the cross reference in my data sheets. Hope the NTE 186 gets your vibrato working again.

I had a Tip31 in hand and the specs are about the same than the original and the organ is working well!
The bad transistor test good out off the circuit but it was causing loud thump even when the vibrato wasn't engaged. I unplugged the dc wire to the vibrato board then it stop, I suspected the transistors on the board because the problem started 30 second after the organ was "cold".
Then I used a cold freeze can on the transistor. When I freezed the Q804 the problem stopped for couples of seconds then started again. I knew it was the bad component.
My T-582 is full operating and fun to play!

I usually use this site for cross reference on transistors:
