What model of organ? Helps to know in troubleshooting. Check tubes first if you have any then capacitors. Lots of threads on here about how to do that.
This is my first Leslie and I'm loving it.
However, when I first switch it on I'm getting a scratchy sound when using the drawbars, which increases in speed as the Leslie speeds up and then sometimes disappears, and reappears on slow.
After a while it often disappears altogether, but occasionally it returns even after its warmed up.
It is only on the Leslie channel, but it's driving me mad, like an old scratched record.
Is this easily fixed by an average DIY'er like me, or do I need new parts and an engineers expertise.
If it helps, I use the Leslie everyday and it has recently been oiled sparingly.
Thanks for any help.

Hammond XE200.
Organ is fine when the Leslie is disconnected.
No tubes around for this one, Admiral, sir!
Dodgy Mercotac on the Rotosonic drum, possibly. That's the mercury contact that transfers the audio signal into the spinning drum and would account for the crackling changing when the drum is changing speeds. Dismantle and replace. Takes a bit of time but not difficult.
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

Thanks Andy, The Admiral
Is EBay my best bet, I'm in Manchester UK.
I assume that there is no way to adjust the Mercotac then?
Cheers

No adjustment on it as far as I'm aware, so a replacement is easier and probably just as quick to do.
This is the item, I'm sure you can get it over here. Swain Electronics or Graham Sutton, probably.

I have heard rumours you can give them a good shake but that guy is now off the forum (but he was NASA smart)Bonaza it think it was)
1956 M3, 130 custom leslie, 51 Leslie, 860 Leslie with Preamp, S08 Yamaha and K2000S, Young Chang 85 key spinet and Korg SV-1 73less Hammonds, downsized they found a good home
You might be able to take it off and spray it with WD40 if it's sticking. Seems like I read that on one of the threads (do a Mercotac search) but have not tried it. I have one that's causing a problem so need to look at it also.

Don't spray it with anything. Shake it very hard and sometimes that will extend its life. (If you're real lucky)
