Electrolytic Caps in the power supply?
Hi All
I bought a Leslie 700 to go with my wurlitzer 950 which came fitted with a 9 pin leslie kit
I only want theatre type sounds so the 700 suits me
However I get interference and crackling all the time when using it
I thought it was the organ swell pedal but it also does the same if not worse when just running through the "main" option or even with headphones plugged in
Has anyone any suggestions please?
Thank You!
Alan

Maybe I'm not following you. Is the crackling coming from the organ, or from the Leslie?

Definitely from the leslie. Originally I had a theory that the organ might me causing the interference as its always had a crackly swell pedal and I wondered if the leslie was amplifying this, but not sure
Mercotac in the Rotosonic unit or problems with the leslie's amps?
It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

I'm with Andy - crackling is these units is usually the mercotac. I have heard others report problems with the volume pots on the amps.
In any case the Mercotac is model 205:

If you want to get a Mercotac this is the cheapest way to get one (right from the manufacturer - they are still being manufactured).
If you replace the Mercotac be very careful when removing it from the spindle and removing the wire/endcap from the mercotac for that matter. The end-cap and spindle have a delicate pin and you don't want to be too rough or you will break the pin. Putting a replacement pin assembly into the spindle is a pain - take it from me - so spare yourself the trouble and be careful.
