    Hi abacus,

You are absolutely right! I had forgotten all about the Wersi OAS instruments! And I live only about 50 minutes from Ralph's store! So glad you pointed that out! At one time he had a beautiful showroom. I see him and his son, Chris, about once a year now, but not this year. I bought my 1st Expander from him (even it was upgradable to a point 25 years ago), and later, when he became a Roland dealer, my 1st AT-80. I was inspired to do so after I heard Seth Rye's concert there. Even then, not so long ago, those were the days. Last year, or maybe in 2010 I visited that warehouse. Talk about history of organs in there!

But even now, software upgrades via disk are so last century, LOL. Everything should be pushed out via Wi-Fi. Soon, people will not know what CDs/DVDs are, because everything is becoming streamed over the Net, like Internet radio stations, Hulu, and at least here, Netflix. Even Mac upgrades, as of 2 weeks ago, are no longer sold with a disk. You log in to iTunes or the App Store, pay the fee, and just stream it to your computer. No physical media required. Organs could do it, but WILL they? Young people will soon look at physical media the way we look at 8-track tapes: a good conversation piece, and quaint, but certainly nothing by which to live your daily life.

Do you happen to know if the new Wersis upgrade in this way?

    Lowrey Sterling on eBay

Well THIS is interesting, a slightly used Lowrey Sterling has just appeared on eBay with a starting bid of $100.00 USD. Yes, you read it right...one hundred bucks. Apparently it was sold to a ill 81 year old woman that has passed away and the family is trying to sell it...sound familiar Lowrey fans? I hope that this auction finishes. Maybe we on this forum will finally get the answer to the question that has been asked more than I can remember...How much is a Lowrey top of the line Organ REALLY worth? I know that I should have posted this on the ebay thread but with all the talk about new organs and their prices recently, I thought I would add it here. Here you go...take a peak. I can almost hear the Lowrey dealers sweating!

    Hi Atelier55

You can connect to the net as with any computer (Use a Wi-Fi dongle if you want) and once downloaded you double click to extract the Zip Files(s), and then select the upgrade option and away you go.

With all the nasty’s out there I prefer to download to my main computer, transfer to a USB stick and then upgrade using this.

With respect to the earlier post, the Tyros/PSR/Clavinova CVP ranges were developed by different teams than the Stagea. I know many of them personally and know what they've been doing. It isn't correct to say that the insides are the same. Yes, there may be some overlapping voices, there always are, especially with Roland products. However, things like 'Super Articulation 2' voices are found only on the keyboards and pianos. Things have moved on, even since the Stagea.

Supernatural is what Roland called their hyper-accurate sounds. Yamaha used other terms like Cool and Sweet. However the AT900 ushered in 'Articulation' voices (a term they don't now seem to use, perhaps under pressure from Yamaha?) These allowed the player to control things like violin and trombone slides by holding over one of the footswitches and playing super-legato. Yamaha had this in the Tyros 3 with their SA2 voices, but these would apply certain effects without much intervention from the player! It actually works very well and you get some very natural nuances. Roland (and Korg, for that matter) had a go at replicating this. Trouble is, even the AT900 only had four of these sounds and only one could be in play. The AT900 Platinum has 35 SuperNatural sounds (their new name!) and you can use up to 8 at a time, so there's obviously been a big hardware change there somewhere. And As I said earlier, they claim to have made them more player friendly, presumably following what Yamaha did.

It's not what you play. It's not how you play. It's the fact that you're playing that counts.

If the RS1000 is being punted as a Wersi Scala competitor at a quarter of the price, that one's aimed squarely at the Verona.

Poor Wersi. It's going to be déja vu all over again for them.

Dear oh Dear Seamaster, you really are anti Wersi, fortunately most people aren’t, so Music Store and its Chinese partners have no worry.

I'm not "anti Wersi". The more cheap Chinese organs the better. The marketplace needs this kind of shot in the arm. But if Wersi can't compete, they'll go bust. Again.

I think that Wersi is going to have a very hard time making it in today's market. They have a lot of bad press and memories to live down. In the USA they have no dealership network except for an inactive warehouse somewhere in New Jersey.

Many years ago (25 maybe) they had a dealership in San Diego. I was selling Lowrey and Conn at the time. The Wersi dealer got such a bad reputation for service and reliability that they were out of business in less than a year. I'm sorry, but any company that can go bankrupt 4 or 5 times isn't what I'd call a good bet.

It is too bad because they made several models that really sounded great... But it has to be reliable which Wersi is/was not. If that has changed they need to convince a lot of people!
