    Essential recordings?

What cds (that are still available) would you recommend for the aspiring organist? I have two recordings so far...Buxtehude Complete Works for Organ Vol. 1 (Bine Bryndorf) & J.S. Bach Great Organ Works (Peter Hurford)...both of these are great.

Cds that have encouraged/inspired me include the famous recording by V. Fox on the Wannamaker organ. Also, the cds available of Fox, like "Encores," "The Bach Gamut" and those avialable through virgilfoxlegacy.com are terrific. David Craighead's cd (Naxos label) of the Vierne 6th Symphony is great also.

Try Cochereau's Dupre recording from the 70's (Solstice) or Demessieux playing anything (Festivo). If you are into Messiaen I suggest Latry's set on DG.
