    That link worked . . .

    Hi Laurie,
first, thanks for going through the restoring effort and sharing with us, that's a good collection of standards there. My favourites were 'She' - WOW! what a great intro, - 'The man with the child in his eyes' and 'Georgia'. It's great to hear the D-85 played by a pro for a change, rather than a bungling hopeful like myself! It really was a versatile machine wasn't it? I've played (on and off) and been a fan of the D-85 since I was about 14 or so and always thought that the pianos on all the Yams of that era lacked sparkle. And we all overdid the slight portamento thing on the mono solo voices - because we could!

Do you have any recordings of Ray playing live, as well as the multitracked studio stuff?
Thanks again, mate you're doing a great job.

Neil, hi there and so glad to hear YOUR download link worked and didn't take you to some "funny sounding tv site" etc etc....
I'll see what more I have in my "archives" lol
As for the Piano voicing of that era well yeah, I agree with you; actually to my way of thinking not many analogue keyboards' piano voices did pose much of a threat to Steinway & Sons aye!!
Cheers for now Neil and have a gr8 year in 2011 too..

This was not easy to download as your previous two have been. Why the change? Can you put them in the same format as you did the Lowrey and Gulbransen organs? It would be a big help.

    Thanks

Good morning all, not sure if this is really the best place to post but it was honestly the only spot I could think of.

I found a copy of Ray Thornley Entertains Volume 1 on ebay and it arrived yesterday morning and utterly made my day! I'm actually wanting to get copies (digital or otherwise) of the pictures on the back in a better resolution.

I've noticed they're attributed to Parker Oakes, of Parker Recordings I would assume.. but does anyone know if they're still around? I know it's a million to one shot of getting in touch with them, let alone them having copies of photos long gone, but still.. I'd like to try.

If anyone could help me out I'd be eternally grateful!

I managed to snare a copy of Black & White recently...excellent record and will be added to the others I already possess. I knew Ray very well and he will be missed very much. I'd be keen to get a hold of some other records or works if anyone could point me in the right direction. Thanks everybody!

Google Ray Thornley and you'll find links for downloads of digitally restored LP's by Ray. I am currently working on the Lowrey Showcase recording which Ray did on the GAKH25-1...Black & White was only released on CD, and while an element of improvement could be made to the recording in digital post-production it would be minimal as I have already played with it..... However it is still subject to copyright by Tony Fenelon. Regards.
