X-5 Issues
Hello, new member here. I just acquired an X-5 and on initial fire-up I find that only a few notes on the lower manual sound as they should. The other notes either simply makea 'tic' sound as if there is some electrical contact, and then depending on which presets and drawbars are pulled out, some of them produce a few high harmonics. None of the upper manual notes sound, but they do make the same "tic" sound when depressed. Some of the bass pedals work, but most do not.
I am inclined to start with a basic contact cleaning. I do have the service manual. I wanted to ask you guys if you have any specific recommendations about how to approach this. For instance, should I remove the keys and clean where they make contact? Or focus on the preset switches (I can tell they are at least somewhat intermittant). Or should I disassemble the drawbars? Need a shove in the right direction.
I am a tube amp builder/repairer but do not have a whole lot of experience with solid state devices or with organs. But I do have three Leslies to bring into the mix and I'd like to get this rig up and running.
Thanks,
RWood
