To some extent, it depends on the capabilities of the organ. I've also used "Come, Sweet Death" in various forms, but on a large, romantic organ in a large building, and so I really let rip with it...

Ahh but I didn't cover that.
If your friends want you to play as your wedding present to them, or just to keep things within their social circle, that's fine if the resident organist doesn't...
A few other ideas. Do you already play the piano? If so, you'll have an existing repetoire you can draw on- a few short-and-sweet pieces you can transfer to the organ will give you more than enough...
OK, this depends on a few things. Have you played any public services before? If not, I would strongly suggest that you do so that it's not an alien experience. I remember the first time I played in...
With mechanical organs it's going to be a physical fault. If it's been resolved it could well have been something small jammed inside the instrument like a very small pot of jam or a bit of ceiling. ...
I like to see the performers hands and feet on a screen, I think this appeals to those with a technical interest as well as just a musical one.
I think this ties into a larger debate about...
Regarding the tours, I should think the majority of visitors are organists.
I wonder if it'll ever get back to full functionality. I reckon the organ forum should try and contribute something-...
Brilliant idea for a topic- this is going to be a fun thread!
In my experience, you're sort of restricted in hymn playing by a few factors. The main point is that whatever you do, you need to be...
A few tips:
When you record yourself, you need to allow space for editing. So when you press record and then settle back at the organ, wait about 15 seconds after registering wtc before you start...
I think the swell might need a bit more power in the reeds, and I'd have the great/pedal trumpet rank unenclosed. Depending on the voicing of the krummhorn, you may or may not need a clarinet...
It doesn't really matter what's in any book, because your Pastor isn't obliged to follow it in that sense. For instance, say the organist has some technical shortcomings, there's already a limit on...
If you don't me rambling a bit, I can give a psycho-social perspective.
*breathes deeply*
What you have as context is a social framework which has historically favoured men as the dominant...
As I said in the other thread, St. Ouen has fantastic tone but also has a lot of oomph to it. The reeds at St. Paul's Cathedral London take their place quite nicely as well.
For sheer power though...
Here we go
Great
Violone 16 A
Open Diapason 8 B
Stopped Diapason 8 C
Violin 8 A
Principal 4 B
Flute 4 C
A few points from me, apologies if anyone has made any of the points I'm about to.
If you're new to playing in public, you wont want to put yourself off. If you find it calms your nerves, then...
Is anyone here familiar with this? I played it for a Church for midnight mass a couple of years ago and might be going back this year.
It a bleeding miserable thing in D minor and I can't think of...
Regarding harmonies, I always make a point of using the best version of a hymn tune I have, unless there's a choir and we have to be together.
I find Anglican books the best. Catholic one's do...
I'll add my thoughts on this matter- I've heard it said that Church musicians should be practising Christians so they have 'a better sense of the meaning of the words.' Am I alone in thinking that...
Although 'officially' Roman, I spend most of my time in Anglican establishments. Definitely a believer, and at Churches most frequently indeed, whether for playing or attending services where you'll...
And well done to the lady singing alone- that was a fine soprano G, and off the cuff!
To give the best psychological explanation, dreaming occurrs in REM (rapid eye movement) sleep when the brain repairs itself, as opposed to deeper non-rem sleep when the body physically replenishes....
I was extremely fortunate to play this quite recently. I took along my copy of "Rule, Britannia!" (what else?)- thought you all might like this :)

I should add that St. Clement's is still a consecrated church, but the C of E no longer has anything to do with it. It's in the care of a factory nearby (Proctor and Gambol)- it's listed so they have...
My youtube channel has a fair amount of this organ on it. The NPOR has sound clips which are very good too. My channel has a few hymns I recorded when playing around to see if my camera worked well...
Organise? I have a lot of sheets of paper flying about the place, but I know roughly where everything is. Books on the other hand are shelved thematically by composer.
