hammond hr-40 amp powering leslie 147

okay, i've read up on installing a 1/4 inch input on an hr-40, and i just need to go and get some 200 ohm resistors,  and it should be pretty simple. but a couple of hours ago it hit me that the output of the amp in the hr-40 could be wired to the crossover of my 147. is this perhaps a bad idea? due to speaker replacement from the previous owner, the leslie is 8 ohms i think, but what is the output of an hr-40? is this by chance a really stupid idea that could ruin my equipment?

open for advice on bettering my b3, h-112, L-112, R-124, and crappy model 123 hammond organs.

The info I found is that the speakers are in the 5 to 8 ohm range for the HR40, so you should be OK... You won't damage anything...
