The small church where I am music director has a Baldwin electronic Model C-630 organ we are not using anymore. The serial number is 1960-B3. It has two manuals, 5 octaves each, and foot pedals. It appears to be stuck on one sound and there is not the interest to fix that. So they would like to give it away whole or in parts. Call my cell at 612-386-0607 if interested. Thanks, Kris

He is also offering the organ to any individual as well as a nonprofit organization. Recipient will have to pay for moving. A reference to a reasonably priced piano/organ mover can be provided.

I have been made aware of a II/14 electric action instrument that is likely to be available soon, looking for a good home. It would be ideal for a small church, chapel, or residence. A final decision hasn't been made yet whether it will be available for sale, so for now we're just putting out feelers to see what sort of interest there may be.

It started out as a II/11 tubular-pneumatic W.W. Kimball built in 1904, removed and stored in a warehouse probably about 1955. I purchased what was left of the organ about 15 years ago, converted it to electric action using Peterson magnets (pneumatics retained for the bass pipes) and added three ranks. It was then installed in a residence, dressed with a simple case, all on a very low budget. It isn't the prettiest organ to look at but it sounds very good and works very well. It uses the Matters fiber-optic system, and we built a simple lighted pushbutton console for it. It has a Peterson expression control system, a full Proteus sound module with 120+/- voices, and was revoiced along American Classic lines with a nod to the North German style that was all the rage at the time.

The owners have moved out of state and the house is up for sale. They haven't decided yet whether or not the organ will be relocated to their new home or if they are going to sell it. I suspect if the right buyer came along they would sell.

It is very compact, but also has a modular layout that could easily be reconfigured. For base ranks, it has:

GREAT (unenclosed and exposed)
8' Principal, 61 pipes (1-12 offset, original W.W. Kimball revoiced)
8' Chimney Flute, 73 pipes (wooden, revoiced from the original WWK 8' Melodia)
4' Octave, 73 pipes (original W.W. Kimball revoiced)
2-2/3' Nazat, 61 pipes (revoiced from the original WWK 8' Dulciana)
2' Octavin, 61 pipes (revoiced from inventory)
8' Krummhorn, 61 pipes (1958 Moller)
4' Rohr Schalmei, 61 pipes (1958 Moller?)

SWELL (enclosed and expressive)
8' Principal, 73 pipes (1-12 Haskell, remainder original WWK revoiced)
8' Holz Gedackt, 61 pipes (ca. 1925 Moller, revoiced)
8' Salicional, 61 pipes (original W.W. Kimball)
8' Voix Celeste TC, 49 pipes (ca. 1925 Moller)
4' Traverse Flute, 73 pipes (ca. 1925 Moller, revoiced)
4' Hautbois, 61 pipes (1958 Moller)

PEDAL (enclosed with Swell)
16' Bourdon, 44 pipes (might be original WWK or ca. 1925 Moller)

Since it is electric action and the Matters system is completely programmable, the base ranks can be used to create a much more complete specification. It is actually somewhat unified now, but we might want to revisit the unification scheme for the new home.

It is going to need a little work to "unbudgetize" it, but with very little it could be a delightful instrument for a small church, chapel, or residence. A price has not yet been set on it but I expect it will be fair. We used a freshly-rebuilt Spencer blower of adequate size for it.

At this point I don't have photos or recordings, but will be working to get those and would certainly have them if we end up removing the organ for storage.

Well, I haven't heard from my prospective seller in a number of days, so I think the deal on the 203 has went south. He said he didn't play it often, but was going to miss seeing it in his music room, so I think there are probably some attachment issues involved. Not that any of us ever have any of those.

Meanwhile, If any of you happen accross an Allen needing a re-home, or even a listing withing five hours or so of Detroit/Toledo, please drop me an email at: searchinferu@yahoo.com or give me a shout at 419 377 7362. Please leave me a message if I cant get to the phone. I'm in the middle of a kitchen remudle, so I do tend to get a little busy.

Thanks for the help.
NOTE: THEY SAY CALL ONLY... [word of advice, I once got a mint working Hammond Elegante for $140 because they said 'call only', but listed the wrong phone number, and I was the only one to Email ( of the 1st anyway) and this was the 2nd day of the listing! Got a call 3 days later & was baffled. They said they were out of town for a couple of days and I was the only response. After picking up the organ I looked at the phone number the seller wrote down for me and two of the numbers were reversed from the ad. So it pays to Email too. BTW, I emailed about the Elegante because my cell was out of minutes & had no long distance on my land line. Lucky me!]
