Hello Everyone! I did some searching within the forum for an answer before asking this question and could not find anything specific.

I have an M100 model with the 26-1 kit and MEE switches, etc.. Would it be a problem to add the Trek II OBL-2 by taking the signal off the speaker terminal (that comes from the amp) and wire it to the box? (the Leslie signal to the 26-1 box would still remain connected to the main signal wire as well) Ideally I'd like to have the internal speakers going too, but I think the added line out box might stress the amp if it is pushing too much. With the echo, I am just having the Leslie, then with Ensemble I'd have Leslie plus line out (effects, other amps, ect...) and with Main (just line out). Does anyone have any advice to offer?

Hello,

I have a B3 that has been restored and in the process the fallboard lock has been
covered with whatever was used to finish the cabinet. It appears you have to
operate the lock to remove it from the slot in the cabinet and
on mine it turns about 90 degrees and then jams. I suspect there's
about a metric ton of paint like stuff within.

Any thoughts as to how to clean it out? Solvents or other thoughts.
I'm very unkeen to squirt acetone all about due to the proximity of
stuff it eats and all but any experience or good ideas would be
welcome. I have the plate unscrewed and freed from the cabinet
side but without operating the lock further I can't get the mechanism
to emerge.

Regards and thanks.

Hello. I picked up a lovely M3 last weekend. She's a beaut. Most things seem to be working fine. I believe it's all original except someone replaced the plug (with a non three prong plug). It looks like it was taken from a lamp or something. Anyway... The upper and lower manuals have similar volume until I turn the percussion on. Then you can really only hear the percussion and the tones drop down. Also, is the vibrato much different from that on my M102? It sounds a little more aggressive, which is fine, it's just different and I'm not sure if there is something going on there too.

What are all of the necessary tools that one needs to get started on repair and maintenance? Obviously a soldering iron and multimeter. And read all of the manual and safety issues. I don't think I'm going to recap anything yet.. they both sound pretty darned good to me. I'd like to do a thorough cleaning on them with the bussbars and all of the contacts and whatnot. Would that be a time to recap also?

Thanks for your input. Have a great day.

I'm almost finished wiring my model A and Leslie 147 into a more permanent state (hooking up through outlet box instead of back of preamp, etc.) and when I got everything running again, I noticed a problem that I forgot about: most of the Cs were either flat or not sounding.

Using the service manual and some helpful info provided by some forum members when I asked about this previously, I narrowed it down to the 3 rightmost compartments on the back of the tone generator (when viewed from the back). I squirted some Hammond oil through the top openings in the TG underneath the felt to no avail. I also noticed that the frequencies would alternate between flat and not sounding at all. Some compartments would spin, but others wouldn't, however, the gears would spin pretty freely when I probed them with a chopstick.

I then noticed that the driving gear in one of the compartments was misaligned with the gear on the main drive shaft so they wouldn't mate, causing the gears in that compartment to not spin. I pushed the gears in the compartment to the right and was able to get the driving gears to mate. So far, everything's working fine.

I watched one of Bobmann's very helpful videos (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7Qqmr6IiFLE) and noticed at about 3:58 that there's a spring coupler on the main drive shaft that appears to isolate a section of the shaft that won't spin, enabling the other sections to still function. I remember reading in the service manual something about "resilient couplers" or something in the drive shaft; I assume that's what those springs are.

So I guess my question is whether the misalignment of the compartments could be caused by lateral movement of the individual shafts in the compartment, or movement of the main drive shaft on the right side of the spring coupler. My guess would be the latter, as all the compartments to the left of it were working fine.

I have been trying to get a C2 (1954) to start for 4 or 5 weeks now with no success. :-P
Plenty of oil...then the lighter fluid 50/50 trick....then more oil. NOTHING. Sounds like the motor is not coming up to speed.
Starting to think the motor is burned up or the vib. scanner is gummed up.
I get about a turn and a half on the main shaft before it stops turning when trying to start it.
Seems to turn smooth when turned by hand tho.

How do I go about checking the scanner to see if it is gummed? Can I do it without taking it out?

Also I have a Model D sitting here that has the starter motor for the second tone gen. (chorus) nice and close to the back.
Would it be worth my time to take the starter motor out of the D and try it in the C2 just to eliminate the starter as the problem?
Are they even the same motor? They look the same.

I am wondering what my next move should be.......

Thank you for ALL of your help in advance!!

hello, i have a leslie 45 that i have been restoring over recent months, it looks great, but i have a problem with the wood resonating at certain frequencies. when the amp is turned loud, and i play certain low or high notes, the cabinet seems to resonate with the tone causing the cabinet to buzz and vibrate. i was wondering if it is generally considered ok to paint the interior of a leslie with a rubberized paint or something similar to help tame the resonance.

Any Thoughts on the Pari.e New K-61?

Hello,
So I am looking into all options for a new organ. At the moment, after comparing all the clones, I have decided that looks are very important...

Hello,
So I am looking into all options for a new organ. At the moment, after comparing all the clones, I have decided that looks are very important to me and it must be true to a Hammond, so the XK Pro System is currently what I am looking to get. It's expensive, but a cheaper option seems to be importing it from the USA (Armen's music store in NYC is doing a great deal). Then I can get the B3 style stand and bench from my local Hammond dealer.

But I have been toying with this for ages now and I just don't know what to think. I love the sound of the Pari.e K-61. I know some people say it doesn't sound like a Hammond, but then that's now. Think of a brand new Hammond in the 1930s, it would also have sounded squeaky-clean and very bright. Compare the two this way and then you probably will appreciate the K-61 a bit more. Having never played a real B3 for many years, I'm far from set in my ways in terms of sound. Feel and layout is very important to me, but sound I'm up for room for compromise (probably to the surprise of many that it's this way around!).

First impressions, as a whole package it doesn't look as nice as the XK Pro System, but the console looks far nicer and more authentic. A bit like the KeyB Duo, except the Duo to me always sounds lacking and either too dull or too thin. At a cheaper price, worth considering, but here it's just another clone and far from the best, so not worth the £4500 retail (or £3900 the UK dealer will drop to).
It weighs 45Kg - very impressive for a tonewheel (and yes I know they're not exactly the same)! Do you think the weight would be OK to put on a wood stand made by Valhalla Woodworking? The console looks more like a C3 than B3. I can picture it with those lovely quatrefoils now!

Just some questions. What is the general consensus of these things? Do people like the feel and do they feel like they're built to last? Also does the generator need oiling? Apparently that was the death of the old plastic tonewheels of the old Pari's. According to http://www.dairiki.org/HammondWiki/PariOrgans they don't need oiling. How can they keep going without oil?

I've sent them an email asking if they're still in production and of the cost if they are. Hopefully they are, but just some food for thought.

Any input at all would be greatly appreciated. So far I really like this instrument. It should be cheaper than the XK Pro System (if it's not I won't be getting it!). I actually think it's the best sounding modern clone, on a par with the new B3. But everyone's ears are different. It's what actually matter to the player, but I love it! The whole concept of new tonewheels, it's actually (hopefully I'm not too sad for saying this, but...) very exciting!

One important question though - I will not be getting their speaker. A - It's expensive. B - Shipping will be yet another fortune. C - It doesn't look so nice (except the tubes on the top do seem really cool!). It says it has an 11-pin output for their speakers. Will this be a standard Leslie, so I can use an 11-pin Leslie? But really I'd want to use 1/4" out until I can afford a brand new 11-pin Leslie (if they work with it!). Do they have 1/4" outs or not? It did mention a MIDI out, but an answer to this important question would be nice.

I need a new pre amp for my Hammond C3, 58, Hammond Tone Cabinet.

I either need an original tube pre amp replacement or one of the Trek solid state units.

The Trek II SSP-3A Preamp looks to be the one that I really need, and I have a friend offering me one for $400...but that is still way too much for me right now. I am considering going with the Trek II SSP-1C Preamp.

Would I be better to go with an original tube amp in good condition than the 1C? Thanks!

I'll try to keep it short. Brief history: Long asleep BC organ briefly awoke, then developed a preamp issue (leaving that alone for now) which while awaiting parts, developed into a Type F amp problem. The amp's first problem was no B+ voltage output (I had a thread going on this), and then a little later, a loud hum now.

Here is what I have done lately: In the Type F amplifier, I replaced two C1 and the C2 capacitors. Oil block capacitor is unchanged. I also replaced all the carbon resistors, as they were slightly out of value and used the same terminal connections.

Here is how it tests now:
1) Pulled all tubes, shorted the GG terminals, powered on, no sound. Voltage at power transformer output leads now 540V each, 1080v between them... (this was imbalanced at 764V/169V previous to parts replacement).
2) Put in the 5Z3 rectifier tube. Slight 60 cycle hum. Rectifier output 450V. B+ output terminal 438V. Negative side -20V.
3) Put the four 2A3 output tubes back in. Still slight 60 cycle hum. Rectifier output now 220V. B+ output terminal now 300V (this was zero prior to parts replacement, but it was 225V at the preamp when it used to make music). Negative side -58V. Voltage at 56 tube plate pin socket 283V.
4) Put the two 56 tubes back in. Now a very loud hum and I have to shut down before she blows. Put in another set of 56's with same results.

Where I am today: I have B+ voltage back, but I still have that very loud amplifier hum. And now I broke the organ cable at the amplifer plug from so much fiddling, so I can't get B+ voltage back at the preamp. Maybe some other wires are broken or shorted inside that female plug also. Maybe that's the problem. So while I take another break and repair the cable, does anyone have any other ideas?

Organ still starts, I have a spare that will eventually be installed. How many of you have the original start switch with 'spring' in your 60 year old consoles?

Hello all, just me with another query for the people whom might know...
I use iReal B (iphone app) all the time for backing on my A102 through the rca in.
The issue is when my phone is not plugged in there is constant hum coming from this line.
The hum can made made worse or better by moving the disconnected line in cable.
Is there a simple dummy cap I can install on the male headphone plug when I'm not plugging my phone in?
I'd like to keep the line connected to the organ as it's a pain to move.

I'm betting like most pre amps with this rca in, my a102 came with a dummy rca plug with no wire.
I don't really see the difference between my line in cable - the length of the actual cable.
Is this acting as an antenna or something adding interference to the signal?
How can I keep the long cable and kill the hum?

Thanks for all the help:->

Hello All, it is great to be among the hammond organ forum folks.

Here's my problem...
I just bought a hammond A-100, which evidently has only one leslie plug outlet,
and no leslie speed control.
I have a leslie 122 and a 31H tall boy which I need to connect to the A-100 in the
most ideal way possible.

I know the a-100 has several different amps and reverb amps and stuff in there ,
and evidently several ways to connect dual leslies in an optimum way, and so I am
searching for advice on an optimum way to do a mod to take the two leslies with a
speed control and all. I know there are some issues about which leslies will have reverb, etc.

Evidently I'm gonna need a kit of some kind and some TLC from organ forum folks,
so thanks in advance for your cherished assistance.
