So, I was in my Hammond H replacing all of the preset keys for upper and lower. That's the furthest I have been into this organ! I found about a dozen cut wires. They come out of a 12 pin plug and disappear into an unknown area on the back of the keys. The 12 pin in question is not identified in the manual.

This plug is on the far right of the back of the organ. Behind the door held by a screw. Behind the "hanging" screw posts with a bezillion wires. There is a metal plate behind the keys with lots of stuff on it. All the way to the right are 4 multi-pin plugs. This one is the one on the bottom right. It is rusty brown in color.

Anyone know? Any thoughts on what it will do to the sound if they are cut? I just got the organ working and am not familiar with what sound I have versus what should be there. I don't think the cuts are something I caused by the tipping of the key racks to replace presets. I believe the previous owner must have done it in response to a problem he was having...

Is there any way of raising the tibia volume on a compact Allen Theater organ? The tibias are the only decent sounding things on the organ and the volume is so low I can barely hear them. I play it for a church and there's no possible way you could hear the tibias over the singing. I took the back off it today but the only pot I found was for the vibrato. I started to mess with the pre-amp (never again) but all I got was static and interference. I never get to play any good Allen's so I have a low opinion of them in general. I couldn't even begin to tell you what model this thing is or how old it is. It has a "reiterate" "auto wah-wah", a "celeste" tab for the lower manual, a "sustain" for the pedals. Also green tabs for the tibias and gold tabs for the strings.

For those of you who are experienced in doing this, what things do I need to be aware of before I unsolder all the wires on the TG?

Both sets of wires from the manuals and the bass pedals are tied off in a way that if I mark where the left and right connections start, there shouldn't be a problem when I reconnect them.

Would anyone advise taking pictures before I start? (I would think so!)

Also, what about the lock-down mechs on the bottom of the TG. Do they need to be removed?

To keep it simple and as you can see, I'm not a pro at this so any help will be appreciated. :-)

Hi all,

I've known David for a short while and he's helped me on numerous occasions, however I ordered some new belts for my Sharma on the 15th April last month, after a couple weeks of no replies I finally heard that he had been having trouble with internet providers but had shipped my order and all was well, it is now nearly the end of May and I still haven't received anything and have had no reply to emails over the past week. I know he struggles with illness from time to time and is usually super reliable but was wondering if anyone had heard from him in the past couple of days?

Thanks :)

My wife has a three-manual Kawai sitting in her parents' shed about 600 kms from here in Warrnambool. Her parents bought it for her in the mid 80s when she began the shift from piano to organ. We do not know what model it is, only that it is three manuals with full pedals, and was the best available in Australia at the time.
Does anyone know what was being sold in Australia at the time - maybe an 'SR something or other'?
It would be interesting to know what it was, they were selling for then and their current value etc. - it was well looked after and sits under a big dust cloth all the time.

I've been working on an A-100 restoration and had to remove the plastic cheekblocks for some maintenance issues. I was surprised by how dull the exposed surfaces had gotten compared to the hidden parts.

I tried some automotive polishing compound, which improved things, probably sufficiently for this job, but I was wondering what it takes to restore the original gloss. Seems to me like it might take some sort of buffing wheel...

This is my first post, although I joined a while back. Not much of an organist, although I've owned a cool combo (Viscount D9) in the past. I'm really a rock guitarist that wishes he played better keyboards. I still have a few keyboards, Rolands etc. but would love to get a Hammond someday.

More interestingly, I currently split time between NY and NC. When here in NY, I stay with a good buddy who has a pipe organ, in the house! He is a pro music/choir director and excellent organist! Would like for to see him join too.

So a big hello!
Mike, from Raleigh....uh..and Staten Island.

My questions is, the sound I am going for is Ray Manzarek of The Doors. Will this do it justice/get similar tones?
I know he played a Vox Continental and a Gibson G101, but both are hard to find and quite expensive.
What do you guys think?

I scored this Hammond T-212 from a local Thrift store. $35 and a $10 can of Radio Shack contact cleaner and it's NEW. The exterior is flawless and even the speaker cloth is pristene. There is a pencil record of each time it was oiled (6 times since new).
This is a tonewheel organ with solid state amplification, a few toys and a leslie. I believe it is the last series built before the addition of rhythm features.

This organ was TRULY loved. I gave it to my sister in law.

It bothers me, no end, that these beautiful pieces of music making history, have so little value.

Hello Everyone! I did some searching within the forum for an answer before asking this question and could not find anything specific.

I have an M100 model with the 26-1 kit and MEE switches, etc.. Would it be a problem to add the Trek II OBL-2 by taking the signal off the speaker terminal (that comes from the amp) and wire it to the box? (the Leslie signal to the 26-1 box would still remain connected to the main signal wire as well) Ideally I'd like to have the internal speakers going too, but I think the added line out box might stress the amp if it is pushing too much. With the echo, I am just having the Leslie, then with Ensemble I'd have Leslie plus line out (effects, other amps, ect...) and with Main (just line out). Does anyone have any advice to offer?
