Ionce met the legendary Reginald Dixon who was organist at the world famous Blackpool Wurlitzer for over 40 years.

He was a very humble man,and of diminutive statue despite being a giant in the entertainments business.

Iwas just a demonstrator-of no particular importance, but he insisted I sat next to him for a dinner given in his honour,at a hotel in Leeds.

It was a magical moment when this man spoke to me about my talents-imagine that-it was akin to Fred Astaire telling you that you were a pretty special dancer!!

I shall never forget that moment.or the subsequent letter I recieved from his agent telling me that he enjoyed my company on that ocassion!

I was blessed to know Fred Feibel who was one the the Paramount Theater (NY, USA) organists and the featured organist for CBS radio. He retired to our area and worked on a charity concert once each year in partnership with the local college I was attending. I know now that he had spent a major part of his career doing transcriptions for Hammond Organs for the music publishing trade and many are often available now on Ebay.

He also was a very kind and humble man. I wish I knew then what I know now about the theater organ. He would have been such a wealth of information! He has been gone several decades now but he will always be special in my heart and mind. Like many of the other early greats he formulated much of the technique for theater organ as the genre was still very new at the time.
