Hello,

The Model 44 I recently bought has a very beefy field coil speaker, but I can't find any manufacturer's label on it. . . it does have the following ID stamps :

On the basket rim :

P-232 444 583176 15522

On the magnet assembly :

384050G2

I *think* it's a Jensen, based on some research I've done, but was curious, and wanted to make sure.

Also, the Amp is a Model 6144 . . any idea how much power this puts out ? I really want to refurbish the amp (and hopefully use it with the factory speaker) in a vintage mono system. Replace the caps, tubes (if necessary), etc. The nameplate on the amp says it's rated at 160W, but I imagine this is similar to newer electronics in that this is the actual wattage draw, not the output signal wattage.

thanks for any help : )

this may be an old post but that amp only puts out about 15-20 watts, your gunna want a bigger one eventually.....

hi,
i recently bought a wurlitzer 4410 spinette from eBay. i first turned it on and it was very quiet. i thought this might just be the valves warming up or whatever...so i waited ten minutes.... i come back in the room, and the speaker is popping pretty violently. so i turn it off and wait a bit for the valves to cool down before i move it. i move it out from the wall and remove the back of the organ to reveal it guts to see ift there are any obvious loose connections...can't see any... so i turn it on and play a few quiet tunes...then it starts to pop again... so i look around the back and a couple of odd shaped valves are flashing blue with the popping...

is it just the valves that are screwed, or is there anything else i need to take into account?

thanks,

I would bet that the Capacitors need replaced. Over time they seem to allow more and more current through and WILL harm your tubes, trust me, ive had a tube explode before and it is hell for your amplifier.

In the foggy corners of my memory i see two 6L6 tubes on that Amp, which turn bright blue and start flashing when they warm up and are going out. yes Capacitors can be the problem that ruins these tubes in the first place.
