Dessert Winds – The Magnificent Seven

The Phoenix chapter of ATOS is putting on 7 great organ concerts over the long Thanksgiving weekend in 2004. There are 7 organists that will be playing 7 different concerts:

Charlie Balogh
Jelani Eddington
Lyn Larsen
Ron Rhode
Bob Richards
Walt Strony
Lew Williams

The doors for the first concert opens Friday Nov 26 at 1:30 for the 2:00PM concert. If you plan to attend you will want to make time to register at the hotel and take time out to get acquainted in the hospitality room and/or restaurant.

There are full page ads in Theatre Organ magazine (page 8 or 9) which are promoting the event. I wanted to say that this event is open to all people, not just ATOS members. So tell your friends and get your hotel reservations in early. With room costs at $99/night for double occupancy you can’t beat the price.

Your guests will be impressed with the caliber of the organists and the pipe organs (no electronic organs as far as I know).

The hotel is just 2 short blocks away from the Orpheum Theatre and 3 short blocks away from the “Historic First Church”. The Sunday event will be held at the fabulous “Organ Stop Pizza” in Mesa. There will be bus transportation to and from the hotel on Sunday.

You can make reservations 2 ways. By calling Don at 623-877-0635 and he can send you a registration form. Or you can go to www.desertwinds.info and print out the registration form and send it in to: Valley of The Sun Chapter Inc. - The American Theatre Organ Society PO Box 36151 Phoenix, AZ 85067-6151. You can also make reservations with the Phoenix Wyndham Hotel in down town Phoenix. Either way works.

Attendance is limited and past Desert Winds events in Phoenix have sold out. I would suggest registering now to avoid disappointment. Registration materials are on the Desert Winds website (http://www.desertwinds.info)

It was the Lyn Larsen 319 model. He was there and played it. Desert Winds was a great event. Ralph Wolf was a house stopper! Lots of fun. We will do it again.

Correction to Dale's info. The Allen was a LL324 and was Lyn's personal organ from his home in Phoenix.
