Hi there, this was just posted on the http://www.siago.org website for the Southern Indiana chapter of the American Guild of Organists. It is quite an interesting organ/space so I am posting it here as well.

PART-TIME POSITION

Director
of Music/Organist

North Christian
Church
850 Tipton Lane
Columbus, IN 47201
(812) 372-1531


Position will
require approximately 20 hours per week.

Holtkamp Organ
3/47 (built in 1964)

Serve as
Organist/Conductor for One Worship Service (with Organ) on Sunday.
Rehearse
weekly with the Chancel Choir (with paid singers).


Compensation
based on level of training and experience.

Other responsibilities
might include some combination of:
Handbell Choir
Children's
Choir
Praise Singers
(based on
interest and expertise)

And, to be honest, I've never played or heard a Holtkamp organ that I thought was much good.

We're in complete agreement.As salaries drop, organists and choir directors continue to abandon the profession. I suspect a number of them are members of this Forum. 

Full-time quality music can't thrive--doesn't deserve to thrive--with a part-time attitude and punypaycheck.The money being offered to organists in some recent job postingsis downright insulting.

This is acritical issue worthy of a separate thread.
