I've been planning to get a JET JPD-1000 piano dolly for a long time. It looks like they are getting scarce and I just found out yesterday that they have been discontinued by the manufacturer, WMH Tool Group.

If you want one you better get it now!

Just received my JET Piano dolly. Very nicely made, but the package was just about gone by the time it got to me. One nut for the bottom nose plate was missing, otherwise all OK.

$140 plus $42 flat rate shipping anywhere in the US. I tried it on a couple of organs here and it works beautifully. Like I said, they have been discontinued by the manufacturer, but you can still get one from:

Thanks for the info. I hope everyone who needs one now or in the future is reading this.

I agree. I just confirmed that the source I purchased mine from says 'no longer available'. I did see one available on a local Craig's list for $200 but didn't think much of the deal at the time so I cannot post the link here.

However, if the source listed above dries up, perhaps some enterprising souls can build their own from the parts if they haven't been discontinued as well:

I called Cripe Distributing (link is above)and they currently have 204 of these in stock. Selling for $140ea. They bought out the stock from the manufacturer who has indeed discontinued the product. Stacy at Cripe asked if I wanted to buy all of them, I told her NO but I might help sell a few for them.

Building one from individual replacement parts will cost you over $400! Whoops...

Hey gang...
here's what Jet told me about the dollies.....
Hello Tim,

Thank you for writing. Unfortunately we no longer carry this item and we have no more stock available. You may want to try the following distributor, they may still have some of these in stock. This is one of our distributors and they will recognize our stock# for this item.

I just used my Jet Dolly to single-handedly move an approx 600 lb Onan Generator into a cargo hauler trailer. Couldn't have done it without it.

Those JET dollies are a lifesaver. I highly recommend them. They make moving organs (or pianos) as easy as it could possibly be. I've always just borrowed them from a friend, but I might have to consider getting a pair, especially if the product has been discontinued!

Does anyone know if a similar product is made by other manufacturers?

Links in the above thread are the only sources I am aware of, hopefully someone else knows better - I think the Jet has been discontinued but do not know if the warehouse that bought the residuals still has any nor where to obtain them other than above links.

Roll-R-Carry most likely will always sell theirs, for a $$$ fee! ;-)

I have had my JET dolly since last summer and I am amazed at what I can get done with it. Stuff that took 2 people I can do myself. Never used an R&C so I can't compare, but the mechanics seems to be identical.

Looks like Cripe Distributing and their ebay store still have quite a few in stock. They bought out the entire stock from the manufacturer when the unit was discontinued. When I bought mine last summer they had almost 200 left. But now, who knows, although it is still listed. If you want one they are still $140 plus $42 shipping anywhere in the USA.

Downside: When you get it you gotta tighten up just about every bolt and square it all up. But then something I was relying on to haul around several hundred pounds of stuff, I'd want to tighten it up anyway...

It may seem like overkill, but they are pretty great for getting leslies up and down stairs,too......without having to leave your fingertips in the louvres....
