I recently came by a lowrey cotillion d575.

When i got it, the power cord had been cut and the keys did not play. After a night of tinkering and checking it out, i got it playing and it plays perfectly, no keys stick or anything like that. It seems like it was in really good hands before mine. My question is, when selling this organ a) how much is it worth? b) would it be terrible if i put newer speakers and replaced some of the shoddy wiring? i found the cause for the keys not working when i got it was a shaky wire.

I dont mind fixing it and i think with a pair of newer speakers, it could sound even better. But i dont know if that is a bad thing, im new to this sort of instrument.

Thanks alot,

I hope you can fix it OK. It's certainly a Lowrey that's worth fixing! I'd recommend joining the Lowrey Yahoo Group at http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/lowreyforum and getting more information and help there. I'm there too and we're a friendly bunch! After fixing it, I hope you'll be playing it!

As for selling it on, don't expect to get much, even if it's in perfect order. Fixing old organs is usually a hobby project and a labour of love, not likely to net a commercial gain. There is a database on the Lowrey site with prices, but they are at rock bottom and will no doubt stay there.
