Hello-

I was wondering if any of the good people on this site could give me some advice regarding playing a hammond as part of a band. I have played piano for a number of years but solo sheet music doesn't really help much when you're trying to accompany other musicians.

Is there a good source of comping techniques etc. available anywhere on the web?
Do most people just create their own backing from experimentation or do they try to pick out the backing from listening to the original recordings? I've tried to do this but I find it very difficult to pick out any of the left hand parts!

Any advice on this subject would be greatly appreciated - However small or obvious it might seem - It'll probably be more than I know!!

Many thanks

Stef.

By the way, the type of music I would like to play is more Rock/Sixties orientated although I also have an interest in jazz and blues styles. I've played my share of classical music whilst learning piano and I've decided to leave that to people who are good at it!

Thanks again.
