Hi -

I recently acquired a Hammond CV. It appears to have had some custom work done on it (Leslie connection, and a light socket of all things).

I'm not too familiar with the structure of the CV. I have had M3's in the past and know them a bit. In any case, the organ starts up and runs, powers my Leslie 147 but produces no sound. I'm wondering if there is anywhere online where I can get a PDF of the CV owner's manual. I know it will be expensive to get a tech out to look at it, so I want to see if I can do anything myself.

Also (and this is embarrassing) - I can't find the oil wells. The organ came with Hammond oil, and a device which appears to be used for oiling. It would seem that the oil wells are not directly accessible, and you pour oil in this device to reach the wells.

Any help for an amateur would be appreciated.

Hello, do you have an email address. I can help you buy sending pictures as to where the oil cups are located.

Sure, send to toesau at hotmail.com

Just replace the "at" above with @. Trying to avoid spam. Thanks!

Trying to avoid spam. Thanks!
The best way to avoid spam from postings on this forum is to add your e-mail address to your profile. Then, only logged-in, registered users can view it and it will be protected from view by anonymous spammmers and text scraping bots.

I'm in the midst of the same thing right now.. but I don't have the 'comes with organ' oiling device. Can you still help with the pictures?

Thanks,
Colin

From the FAQ page:

In order to add an image to your message or your signature, you must have the image already available on a web server. This can be an image on your own personal web page, an image hosting site, or another web site.

To place an image within a message, simply use the following the image Markup Tag.

In order to show you the examples we have to replace the < > characters with [ ] characters.

For example, if you have an image called Allen965.gif and its available from your own website at http://www.bargainsail.com/images, then you would use the following image markup (replacing the [ ] with < > ):

http://www.bargainsail.com/images/Allen965.jpg

remember to replace the [] with <>

to get this:
http://www.bargainsail.com/images/Allen965.jpg

on my CV there are two cups above the generator, they are pretty obvious, just open up the back of the organ and you will see two little gray metallic cups about the diamater of a half dollar coin about 1/4" tall with a attached metallic tube leading down to the tone generator.

I'm in NYC this week..back in indiana next week, if you want I will take photos of the cups and post them here. (I need to oil my CV as well..that time of year!)

If you are near Louisville, KY I know a hammond repairman who can probalby get your M3 going although he likes to use WD40 and one person said that putting WD40 on a Hammond is a very bad idea because WD40 will dry out and gunk up your organ.
