    Organ Bench risers

    Hi,

Anyone know where to obtain organ bench risers? I have an old 3 Manual Rodgers

The bench is too short by about 2 inches.

Are such things out there and if so where?

    Thanks

Go to your local big box hardware store and buy a 2X4.  Have them cut it into pieces that match the width of your bench leg + and inch or so (or do it yourself.)  If you want to get fancy, buy some shoe molding and nail it to the 2x4's, framing the bottom footprint of the bench. This will keep the bench from slipping off the blocks when you slide it around.  To be really sharp, stain the whole thing to match the bench.  Total cost will be less than $10 I'd bet!

-OR-   Just use old hymnals like I have done in an emergency!!! Stick out tongue  Good luck!

Ludwig tone has suggested the most cost effeicient way, but if you do have the spare cash you can get adjustable organ benches that you can crank up and down. There are even electric ones where you press a button and it will raise and lower you.

Errol Garner always used a Manhattan phone book when playing the piano.  I would bet that it would work on an organ as well.
