For the last eight to ten years I have been leading my church's congregational worship using a Wurlitzer Orbit organ, see link for photograph (http://www.isa4031.co.uk/pbc/wurlitzer.htm), but within the last couple of months it developed a strong burning smell -- the organ engineer states that it requires a new power unit and given the age of the organ (probably made early to mid 70's) it is no longer financially viable for us to repair it.
The church has bought as it's replacement a three/ four year old Johannus Opus 5 organ and is looking to sell the wonderful old Wurlitzer. Is there anyone looking for a restoration project and willing to make the church an offer? Any offer would require the purchaser to uplift from the church site themselves. When viewing on site it will still play so you can hear the sound it produces -- all the voices work as do each of the rhythm switches. -- it's just that any prolonged use will cause the burning smell to re-appear.
The cabinetry is in extremely good condition and all the switches are intact, one or two of the lower manual notes play a bit intermittently and one of the slides to the far left of the bottom manual has never done anything for the entire time we have had this organ.
If anyone from the UK is interested, contact me through this forum.
Looking forward to hearing from people re this fabulous instrument which helped me develop my organ playing -- now I need to move up a gear and master two full manuals and a full pedal board on the Johannus!!
