Add an "Improvisation" section in "Organ Music"

I suggest to add an "Improvisation" section in "Organ Music" to be used as a collection of "tips&tricks" for organ improvisation.

Since the recently "self teaching organ improvisation" post in "Classical" in my opinion was (and still is since it is "in progress") really nice, the idea of having a place where to discuss about improvisation only is really good.

    I can imagine some posts:

"how to do a Mozart-style improvisation"

"practicing for improvising a baroque fugue"

"improvisation on a mobile phone ringing during the mass" :)

    LOL !!!  Party!!!

I thought that cellphone blockers were available and widely used in Europe.  I would sure like to have on in our church in the USA.  Would you believe someone taking a cellphone call while approaching communion and pausing just long enough to receive.  I am glad that God was important enough to ask the caller to hold for a moment!

I didn't know about cellphone blockers (now after a Google search I now). I attended several masses in which a mobile phone ringed at the less appropriate moment, expecially in funerals. I don't know why even really serious looking elderly people like to have teenagers tunes in the mobile phone. Then since they don't like technology too much they spend 30 seconds to locate the phone and to switch it off... Enough time for some ilariity/hatred to grow in the audience...

But in some normal masses, where there is a general "good mood", improvising on a mobile phone ringing can help distracting people from hating the called person... :)

Sometimes I ring the Zimbelstern for a few seconds just to let the person with the cellphone know that we can all hear them ringing.  I wonder how may people in the church think that the Zimbelstern is just another cellphone ringing?

Here is a fun tip that will help with your improvisation:

Whenever I hear a cell phone ring during a rehearsal (something that seems to stress everyone, as directors get very angry) I instantly repeat the melody of the cell phone at the keyboard.  Everybody laughs, and we then can get on with the rehearsal.

It helps if you have perfect pitch, but with a little practice you can imitate just about any melody.

So did this section get created?  I think it's an awesome idea.

I think it's a great idea, bring it on!

And as for cell-phone blockers, the only place where I think one has actually ever existed is in London Heathrow Aiport.....not really a church is it....lol!
